If Labour was to lose this seat, it would mean they would lose control of Wakefield council for the first time in 36 years. So expect every trick in the book to be used. Even though the current form shows a decrease in Labour votes, and this weeks disgraceful performance by Labour, they will probably get the best performance ever and increased majority. If this happens yet again, as it did last year in three other by elections, we truly need to look at the third world democracy we are fostering.
