The court did not find anything illegal about the BNP's beliefs, but it did rule the party could not use them to choose its members.
A 17-page judgement highlighted the party's policy of requiring new members to allow BNP officials to come to their homes for interviews lasting up to two hours.
It pointed to clauses in the party's constitution that pledged to foster the integrity of "the indigenous British" and reverse immigration.
None of that broke the law. But Judge Paul Collins suggested no-one who was not "indigenous British" could sign up to these requirements without compromising their "personal sense of self-worth and dignity as a member of their racial group".
That is why he argued the BNP would be likely to commit unlawful acts of discrimination under race relations law - and why he ordered the party's constitution had to change.
So if I contact other parties with my worries over how feel I might be compromising my self worth what would be their reply?
HERE IS THE LIST OF PEOPLE MAILED
Gerry Adams & Martin McGuinness
I am interested in becoming a member of Sinn Fein, but I would like to ask you a question first.
I believe in Northern Ireland remaining as part of the Great Britain and to be governed by this and any future Monarchs government. Would I still be accepted into your party as a member and would I have your assurance that I would be made more than welcome without prejudice?
Ian Paisley
I am interested in becoming a member of the DUP, but I would like to ask you a question first.
I believe in a united Ireland with absolutely no link with the government of Great Britain. Would I still be accepted into your party as a member and would I have your assurance that I would be made more than welcome without prejudice?
Nigel Farage UKIP MEP
I am interested in becoming a member of the UKIP, but I would like to ask you a question first.
I believe in a united European governed state. Would I still be accepted into your party as a member and would I have your assurance that I would be made more than welcome without prejudice?
I think you can see the point I am making, I have sent others out to the SNP and Plaid Cymru leaders. I don't expect any answers but I wonder if the equalities gestapo will be asking all these parties to change?

Excellent angle there. Doubt you'll get any reply but if I meet any Ukip candidates in Southwark, I'll be sure to ask them the same ;p
ReplyDeleteI hope you do get a reply from at least one of them….
ReplyDeleteThe anti-bnp brigade needs to open their eyes and look at the wider implications here. Though they might celebrate any legal or civil action against the bnp, the changes being made will affect all other groups and any other political party that does not tow the line with the LibLabCon-men.
The same also implies to the media, though many anti-bnp will celebrate the joint media attack and blocking of a legitimate political party, you need to ask yourself `is this really the road we want our media to go down`. The media should report all news regardless of any personal political or religious feelings.
