Woodfield Ward, Harrogate BC by election Jan 7th

First by-election of the New Year is in Woodfield ward, Harrogate, on January 7th.

Candidates are:
Heather Adderley, Conservative
Steven Daniel Gill, BNP
Greta Bridie Knight, Liberal Democrat
Daniel Paul Joseph Maguire, Labour

Steven stood in the 2009 county council elections getting 476 votes beating the Labour candidate which stood, but coming third to the lib dums and cons.

The previous result in this ward was at the May 2007 election. Where the BNP stood 15 candidates in the district elections. Labour only stood 7 and UKIP stood a pathetic 2.

Lib Dem 910 (58.5%)
Con 231 (14.9%)
Lab 220 (14.1%)
BNP 194 (12.5%)
turnout 37.7%

Lets not forget that this area was part of the Yorkshire and Humber region which returned Andrew Brons as our first BNP MEP. A lot to build on and so this could be good boost for the new year when the results come in.
