There is countless third party interventionists now, which I feel should be tackled harder by the electoral commission. If you are not standing in the election, you should not be leafleting or canvassing in the election, and if you do, you should declare an interest for who you support and be counted against their expenses.
Back to the result, I found another election result from more recent times for the county council seat for the same ward. The results we have shown before have been for the borough elections for Nuneaton and Bedworth. The county elections for Warwickshire cover the same ward, and in June 2009 this was the result.
Labour 505 = 33.1%
BNP 470 = 30.8%
Tories 401 = 26.3
Green Party 147 = 9.8%
Cllr Martyn Findley reported that all the other parties had given up, just so the Labour party could gain the vote. Would a Tory start voting Labour? I don't think so. The Tories were already in decline from the 2008 result. The BNP vote has been consistant and we do need to make a even greater push to get those voters out because this shows we could easily take this seat back on the borough and county council basis.
As for dirty tricks we await the postal ballot report. Is it up from previous elections ? That will be interesting to see.
205 postal ballots were cast, plenty enough to make a difference in a`three horse race. 339 applied for.
Best comment I have seen put this all into perspective.
How can anyone with an I.Q. above room temperature vote Labour?
Last nights result
Labour 670 = 47.1%
BNP 478 = 33.6%
Con 275 = 19.3%
2008 result
BNP 675 = 36.1%
Lab 562 = 30.1%
Con 541 = 29%
Soc 88 = 3.8%
So BNP vote could be said to be up 2.8% from June, although the BNP lost 197 votes the others in total lost 246 since 2008. It is all how you read the figures. We have now discussed this enough and so will only comment if I hear something concerning the postal ballot papers.
I am disappointed that my local BNP representative who stood for nearly a year did not manage to get round the Camp Hill Estate and explain to the voters what the modern BNP are about, what the policies are and to dismiss publicly the racist and anti-jewish claims of the incompetent Labour and Conservative mafias. I believe a golden opportunity to create a party that would be the No1 choice for the people of this area has been lost by the BNP. If we are going to support you knock on some doors and let the people understand that the BNP are ready to take office and to make all our lives better.
ReplyDeleteA sad day for democracy. When will people recognise self-seeking 'New Labour' for what they are? Remeber what Tony Blair said when elected? 'I've not come to change the government, I've come to change the country.' Have any of the thicko labour voters noticed HOW the country has changed? That priority given to all but the indiginous population, is never challengd by labour. Whoever coined the phrase 'they're on another planet' never said a truer word. Hard luck Alwyn. You deserved to win.
