The man expected to get the job of London Mayoral candidate and number one position on the GLA elections, Steve Squire, stood in a by-election in Bush Hill Park, Enfield , yesterday.
From all reports the split in the party had not stopped the campaigning, so the result is somewhat of a disappointment given the fine tuning Clive Jefferson has been making to election strategy!
Lee Chamberlain - The Conservative Party Candidate 1108
Ivor Wiggett - The Labour Party Candidate 668
Tony Kingsnorth - Independent 230
Paul David Smith - Liberal Democrats 177
Douglas Frank Coker - Green Party 100
Gwyneth Wesley Rolph - UK Independence Party 70
Stephen Squire - British National Party 61 (2.5%)
Clive Morrison - Christian Party "Proclaiming Christ's Lordship" 45
Ben Weald - The English Democrats - "Putting England First!" 29
Turnout: 23%
All the best activists have f*cked off so I'm not surprised at this result
ReplyDeleteYou can't just walk into a ward and grab it either, you need to build up locally. Has Stephen Squire got anything to do with Enfield?
ReplyDeleteAlso, look at that turnout... 23% !? People don't care where the savings axe falls? The cant-be-bothered-voters agree with the liblabcon voters? Or was the Xfactor on and they can't figure out how to record or use a catch up service?
Not a good result but look at the UKIP and ED results, they're no better. In fact add all 3 together and it would still be a dreadful result.
ReplyDeleteTo answer Wim Wauters question Stephen Squire lives in Enfield.
