That's 11 seats declared in total in the East Mids with a further 9 seats (Amber Valley, Boston and Skegness, Derby North, Derbyshire South, Erewash, Gedling, Grantham and Stamford, Nottingham South, South Holland and The Deepings) intending to have PPCs but awaiting candidates to be publicly named.
East Midlands region seem to be leading the way in their announcements! There remain a further 26 parliamentary seats in the East Mids that await news as to whether they will have a BNP candidate or not (Bassetlaw, Bolsover, Broxtowe, Chesterfield, Daventry, Derby South, Derbyshire Dales, Derbyshire Mid, Derbyshire North East, Gainsborough, Harborough, High Peak, Leicester East, Leicester South, Lincoln, Louth and Horncastle, Mansfield, Newark, Northampton South, Northamptonshire South, Nottingham East, Rushcliffe, Rutland and Melton, Sherwood, Sleaford and North Hykeham, Wellingborough).
55 parliamentary seats in South West region - around 20 candidates would be just over a third of seats contested. Presume then these are the 2 seats allocated in Cornwall, and officially leaves Camborne and Redruth, St Ives, Truro and Falmouth, and South East Cornwall without BNP candidates.
Anonymous said... What bout the south west? suppose too be up to 20 candidates standing but only one mentioned. Strange hes the best mate of the RO

Understand that there are good tactical reasons to both announce a candidate in advance- or to keep the opposition guessing on where we are standing. I was speaking to my local organiser just before christmas- and he is inclined not to announce the seat and candidate until nominations close. Annoying maybe, but a fair decision to make.
What a shame the BNP vote (and organisation) in Oldham has been in marked retreat over several election cycles with news that the Tories have now selected Kashif Ali to fight the Oldham East and Saddleworth seat and Kamran Ghafoor the Oldham West and Royton one.
Apparently the Tory selection meeting sparked a huge fall-out amid allegations of threats and candidate rigging.
Of the 55 known BNP candidates declared here to date (incl Penrith & The Borders) 38 are in Parliamentary constituencies not fought in 2005 - only 17 seats declared had BNP candidates at the last General Election.
This presumably leaves the 102 Parliamentary constituencies fought in 2005 and surely most likely again to have a BNP candidate still to select or publicly name the candidate. That would make around 157 seats in addition to other new seats which are being considered, have yet to select or actually publicly name the candidate.
It does look like they'll be at least 200 BNP candidates standing then. I can think of about 22 other seats which have declared there will be PPCs but no candidate has been publicly named. Then there have been regional announcements about how many candidates each region is hoping to stand. The East Midlands region is notably leading the way in publicly naming their PPCs to date:
East Midlands 13 seats declared North West - 9 seats declared London - 7 seats declared Yorkshire 5 seats declared North East - 4 seats declared West Midlands - 4 seats declared South East - 4 seats declared Eastern - 3 seats declared South West 3 seats declared Wales - 2 seats declared Scotland 1 seat declared
"This presumably leaves the 102 Parliamentary constituencies fought in 2005 and surely most likely again to have a BNP candidate still to select"
I think a number of seats fought in 2005 will not be fought again- a number of Tory and Lib dem seats in particular where we tried out luck and the vote just wasn`t there
Agreed there are about 8/9 seats fought in 2005 (Cheadle, Basingstoke, Haltemprice & Howden, Harrogate & Knaresborough, Havant, Poole, Weston-super-Mare, Wokingham, Woodspring) which seem more unlikely to have BNP candidates standing again.
"Agreed there are about 8/9 seats fought in 2005 (Cheadle, Basingstoke, Haltemprice & Howden, Harrogate & Knaresborough, Havant, Poole, Weston-super-Mare, Wokingham, Woodspring) which seem more unlikely to have BNP candidates standing again"
Some of these were fought as an attempt to "decapitate" certain tory MPs who it was felt useful to stand against - or where we polled well at the Euros accross a borough (Cheadle in Stockport for example) but not so good in this part of the Borough.
In Doncaster the English Democrats have emerged, cannot an alliance with the BNP to share target seats not help further the common goals of both across the country, doubling up the total target seats? From the manifestos I think their are a lot of common ground but splitting votes in any consituency by too many candidate choices only lets back in the ones nobody wants. I think it is called tacktical voting to kick out the big load of shiits we have now as MPs.
Louth & Horncastle had not been declared before and other Lincolnshire seats will be added, with candidates already lined up, if enough money can be raised.
East sussex is a county not a parlimentary constituency. Also to the person enquiring about the 2 Doncaster constituency's this is a list of announced candidates standing for the named constituency.
There are still 2 & 1/2 months left for deposit money to be raised before deposit's need to be paid to councils for parlimentary candidates. General election deposits cost £500 a constituency and are returned if 5% or more of the vote is recieved.
Remember some places have council elections in May and may be able to Vote BNP in the local elections but not the general election.
From the city of Salford, the wards of: Broughton, and Kersal. From the city of Manchester, the wards of: Charlestown, Cheetham, Crumpsall, Harpurhey, and Higher Blackley
Not sure if BNP will be contesting Birmingham northfield but i would expect Birmingham BNP to be standing a full slate of candidates for the local elections as usual so everyone in Birmingham should be able to vote BNP on Thursday 6th may.

London BNP hopes to stand at least 20 Candidates at the General Election. -London patriot-London BNP website
I haven't seen it mentioned on here yet that the Eastern region plan to stand candidates in almost all the parliamentary constituencies in Essex.
BNP Eastern Organiser Eddie Butler was reported in the Gazette as saying there will probably be about 15 candidates in Essex alone. That would leave just 3 constituencies without a BNP candidate in Essex. He also said the BNP will "almost certainly" fight sitting incumbent Tory Party chairman Eric Pickles in the Ongar seat.

A little disspointing only 16 seats in London though
A few seats that BNP are contesting aint been named on the London patriot website. Places that should be contested like Eltham,Erith & Thamesmead,Bexleyheath & Crayford,Uxbridge, Ilford north,Enfield north dont seem to have a candidate.
Remember that London has All-out local elections with some groups in London not having many members. I would say that 1/3 of seats being contested is good.
Never expected to hear this seat was going to be contested.
"A little disspointing only 16 seats in London though"
Yes I agree 16 out of 74 is not good and doesn't bode well for our vote in the GLA in 2012 if it remains so low. The East Mids region is already, to date, fighting 50% of its seats (24 of 48). That's encouraging. However, in London, these 16 may be the first on the list and, if more money is raised, other seats will hopefully be added.
Good luck to all BNP candidates, I will support you no matter what, as will at least a million others. I hope you find a few more candidates here in the South East, especially in the Sussex area as I won't vote for any other party!
We need candidates for: Swansea East Wrexham Llanelli Neath Carmarthen East and Dinefwr Caerphilly Cardiff North Cardiff South and Penarth Cardiff West Carmarthen West and Pembrokeshire Swansea West Vale of Glamorgan Bridgend
Why dont we have a special election full slate fund put on the main website so we can donate towards it the more candidates we get the bigger we look more coverage ect
I see BNP Scotland target 'to stand 23 candidates' in the general election has now been drastically reduced. Just 10 confirmed prospective candidates will be standing in Scotland with the hope they can make that up to twelve. So that's now barely a fifth of Scottish seats being fought as there are, in total, 59 parliamentary seats in Scotland.
Enough money has been raised to fight both the Basildon and Billericay constituency, and South Basildon and East Thurrock.
Source: BNP Website
South West declarations continue apace with the addition of both Totnes and Exeter to be fought. Presume the hand wringing liberal, Emma Thompson, will be standing in Exeter as she's so appalled the city has so few black faces?
Great to see 5 seats being fought in Devon which is almost half. The 7 other seats (Central Devon; East Devon; Newton Abbot; Plymouth, Sutton and Devonport; South West Devon; Tiverton and Honiton; Torridge and West Devon) presumably won't have candidates.
Update on London:
41. Holborn and St Pancras – Robert Carlyle 54. Mitcham and Morden – Tony Martin 69. Upminster – Mark Logan 70. Uxbridge – Keith Hardman
Few more confirmations for you Holborn and St Pancras – Robert Carlyle Mitcham and Morden – Tony Martin Upminster – Mark Logan Uxbridge – Keith Hardman
Dont think Robert Carlyle is the Scottish actor.... (Begbie in trainspotting). Is Tony Martin the Norfolk farmer though?
"I see BNP Scotland target 'to stand 23 candidates' in the general election has now been drastically reduced"
Speaking as an ordinary activist and not organiser, not 100% sure of the reason behind this, bit IMHO , 23 was over ambitious considering we fought only 2 in 2005, and Scotland is the weakest are in electoral terms in the whole of the UK. 10 is manageable
I am sure people realise that paper campaigns just aren`t worth fighting

Latest news that Cllr Pat Richardson is standing as a parliamentary candidate in, I presume, Epping Forest (although article does not actually confirm which seat).
I thought the samae about Pat Richardson, going for Epping Forest, and have emailed the local BNP but no reply yet. I also saw the same article about Tim Rait standing in Surrey Heath and not Maidenhead, will alter it when officially announced.
Cheryl Dunn, Simone Higgins Debbie Osbourne and Ronnie Bage are prospective candidates for the Rossmere, Seaton, Fens and Rift House wards in the local elections 6th May 2010. Ronnie Bage is the Parliamentary candidate for the General Election 2010.
East Northants BNP hoping now to contest a full slate on that side of the county if they can raise a few hundred pounds more so the seat of Wellingborough can be contested.

Let's hope West Northamptonshire BNP can add to their total. So far only one seat has been confirmed (Northampton North) on that side, with Daventry, Northampton South and Northamptonshire South currently awaiting news as to whether they will have a BNP candidate or not. A joint meeting in March could help raise more general election funds.
Respected former BNP councillor (Heckmondwike ward, Kirklees), David Exley, will be standing in the forthcoming local and parliamentary elections.
http://bnp.org.uk/members/albertx/
No confirmation of which seat but presumably either Dewsbury parliamentary constituency again or Batley and Spen, due to boundary changes moving Heckmondwike into the latter seat at the forthcoming election.
Our Candidate for the Gordon District is the fabulous Elise Jones and for Banff & Buchan the charming Richard Payne will stand. Gary Raikes is also to stand in East Renfrewshire.-In orange at the bottom of article.
Thursday, 18 February 2010 Cllr Paul Golding visits Aberdeen.
A meeting where voters have the opportunity to grill each prospective parliamentary candidate for Stroud ahead of the next general election is being held at The Prince Albert Inn, in Rodborough. Last Monday night, Labour MP David Drew was at the question time session. When asked by Miles Connolly, who works at the pub, if a session should be held with the BNP if they had a parliamentary candidate, Mr Drew failed to give an answer. Conservative prospective candidate Neil Carmichael will take part this Monday, February 22, followed by Lib Dem Dennis Andrewartha on March 1 and the Green Party’s Martin Whiteside on March 8. If the BNP are going to stand a parliamentary candidate in Stroud then it should be announced pretty soon so the candidate can expect the same privilege of being offered a question time session and gain the widespread publicity that will accompany it.
Sadly looks more to the sudden drastic reduction of BNP candidates standing in Scotland:

[...]Pity that Gary Raikes, the organiser in Scotland simply sat at the back, didn't introduce himself, didn't speak and didn't meet any people. well at least you turned up Gary but come on Gary you are meant to be the organiser. please try to involve yourself with what is going on. also please explain why we have lost our candidate against Gordon Brown and why up to 10 canidates are on strike in Glasgow and the central area because of Walter Hamilton
Come on Boro (Middlesbrough) get behind the BNP. 40+ years of Labour rule as stripped away our shipbuilding, oil rig/module construction and iron/steel works. Dont make the same mistake again get behind the BNP
Anon regarding the northwich / winsford area of Cheshire - this is, I believe, in the Eddisbury Parliamentary Constituency.
All the people asking if there will be a candidate in their specific area - Please contact your local (or regional) group and find out how you can personally help to get a BNP candidate to stand in your constituency and how you can assist in the ensuing campaign to get them elected.
Just 1 year ago there was just 1 branch covering the whole of Teesside but the area has grown so fast that there are now 5 different branches and a lot more work as is a constant flood of new enquiries.
Anyone wanting to vote BNP in Leicester East (Keith Vaz), Leicester South or Harborough, the local groups need help raising the money to contest each of these seats. They have the candidates ready and waiting. If the money can be raised then that would mean every seat in Leicestershire will be contested which would be a stunning achievement.
South Leicestershire? Is this being confused with Leicester South? The constituencies that could be described as being in the southern part of Leicestershire are Harborough and the Blaby constituenies. You may wish to check this one out.
If you click on the link for Paul Preston you will see that the constituency is right, If it should be totally correct it should be Leicestershire South... But thanks for the check...
Anonymous said...South Leicestershire? Is this being confused with Leicester South? The constituencies that could be described as being in the southern part of Leicestershire are Harborough and the Blaby constituenies. You may wish to check this one out.
Blaby constituency has been re-named Leicestershire South.
I'm glad not all branches and regions are taking this rather pathetic approach. London BNP wouldn't be putting up virtually any candidates on this basis.
The last census showed Walsall South (on the old boundaries) was still White: 73.1% and they actually held their deposit there in 2005 (BNP: 1776 votes (5%)). But now it seems like the branch has given up on all those thousands of people. The BNP in London are fighting much more difficult propositions, seats like Old Southwark & Bermondsey and Holborn and St Pancras. Expect UKIP (or the NF) to profit from this move in Walsall South unless it is reversed.
I don't know where you get the thought that the BNP have said they won't be fighting Walsall South from that article, all it says is the announcement of the Walsall North candidate.
I personally think financial problems are the reason that Walsall BNP might not contest the Walsall South seat.I think a person who lives in Walsall said the constituency aint worth contesting as the constituecny is possibly un-winnable.
Also remember that some areas have local elections in may so some places will find it hard financially to stand in every seat if they have more than more than 2 constituencies that their group covers.
As for Northants west BNP i personally think they should be able to contest 2/4 constituencies that there group covers. Personally if funds are raised to contest one of the last 3 seats in Northamptonshire then i hope it's Daventry so the organisation in Daventry improves with more members, activists and candidates recruited.
Thanks for the post Andraste, I have simply included one of them at present because still to have tameside confirmed, David is the organiser but it doesnt say he will be the PPC, presume he will be though.
I have included Dennis, but not the link as it brought up a warning on my firefox.
If the BNP is attempting to win a million votes, so far - with 122 candidates - they would need to win an average of 8,197 votes per constituency. Half a million votes would require 4,098 votes per candidate as things stand.
More than 122 constituencies are gonna be contested. I would estimate 220-400 seats will be contested. 330 would mean half the seats would be contested.
Remember there are local elections on Thursday may 6th in some areas.
Yet another BNP PPC in the east midlands see http://eastmidsnat.blogspot.com/ whilst there click on an advert or two (all helps)
This report really needs highlighting if we are to stand in the amount of seats we really should stand in. Just 2 people have enabled us to contest a seat we thought we would not be able to contest due to funds.

Eastmidlands Nationalist - I had a idea-All deposits that the party dont lose should be collected up and put away for the next general election then at the next general election more seats could be contested.
Anonys agree lets hope this idea is taken on and ready for the next election in those areas we manage to save our deposit but it will be tough to save them (In the east mids we have never saved a deposit at the General Election) we will this time though.
The first full-slate declared then - unexpectedly in Shropshire. What an amazing achievement.
Can't believe Shropshire BNP have managed to do this whilst some other counties have yet to declare a single candidate (if indeed any will stand).
I hear Aberdeen are getting closer to fielding a full-slate there, with Aberdeen North about to be announced. Not sure but think that would only leave the West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine seat to go?
Shame there's been no word of a candidate in the Batley and Spen seat. Surely in seats like this a campaign with the candidate in place should have already started?
The report suggests Tories are finding when out canvassing "[...] the BNP voters are not just disaffected working-class Labour voters up here; they are also middle-class. This is not factored into the marginal polling figures, so therefore cannot be extrapolated – which is why you haven't been reading about it in the national press. But when doctors, nurses, teachers and white-collar workers are thinking of voting BNP, we have a problem.
But what most people want to hear is that we are addressing the top three issues up here: immigration – which is right up there with the economy and law and order. [...]'

Let's hope someone in that region bothers to stand here!!! There seems to have been little news about anyone standing in much of West Yorkshire.
Re above: Tameside is not a Parliamentary Constituency. Tameside MBC covers 3 constituencies.
Denton North East is a local election ward, within Denton and Reddish. The article relates to Rosalind being a candidate for the local election and not the Parliamentary Constituency.
Thanks for the last poster, you were saying what I was thinking. I have seen the blog and it is new, and it has got me to thinking on how to help catalogue all bnp blogs especially to do with councillors. I have a big enough job at present with this, So rather than spoilt it. Will leave that until after the election.
As for Tameside I thank everyone and anyone for the contributions but I will only post links which have links to an official website confirming what they say.
There is no immediate rush I would rather get it right first time. and yes i do make mistakes but hey who's perfect.
Is Gateshead the only constituency that Gateshead BNP are contesting?
I would expect A full slate of candidates in Kirklees and the four constituencys to be contested(That includes the Batley and Spen constituency) seeing has Kirklees has 2 groups.
I personally would expect nearly every seat in yorkshire to be contested apart from less than 10 seats.
A large amount of Bedfordshire seats are being contested.
Not sure if the West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine constituency is being contested. Scotland BNP aint contesting as many seats as they liked so i doubt this seat will be contested.
Update of the 128 known BNP candidates declared here, to date, according to region. Figures in brackets (number of candidates declared previously 7th Jan 2010).
The East Midlands region continues to lead the field and should be congratulated for having such a good interactive organisational structure. Some real surprises in the order of the rest and a particular mention should go to the South West region which is strikingly ahead of many areas considered far stronger:
East Midlands - 23 candidates declared (13) West Midlands - 18 candidates declared (4) South West - 15 candidates declared (3) London - 15 candidates declared (7) North West - 13 candidates declared (9) South East - 10 candidates declared (4) North East - 9 candidates declared (4) Eastern - 9 candidates declared (3) Yorkshire - 7 candidates declared (5) Wales - 5 candidates declared (2) Scotland - 4 candidates declared (1)
Don't worry about Yorkshire, we are still finalising things here, expect us to shoot up the candidate league table you have posted very soon, and we hope to top the list by the end.
Bedford,Mid Bedfordshire,North East Bedfordshire & atleast 1 of the Luton seats are being contesed. Shelly Rose wants to contest South West Bedfordshire but it aint been confirmed.
At the association of Leicester/shire combined branches and groups meeting last night, the association declared they are fighting 8 out of the 10 constituencies that comprise the shire. The only two not being fought is Leicester South - pity because we have polled well there in council by-elections - and Leicester East, the Rt Hon Keith Vaz's seat.
If anyone can come up with the money it is understood that there are people in place ready to stand. Cap in hand folks! Oh and the collection raised just under £1,000 to be divided between the 2 branches and 2 groups.
Great to hear that Harborough is being contested as i remember a candidate standing in that area say he got 33% of the postal vote and got a good result in that area.
I've heard that Robin evans is the Blackburn candidate but theres been no confirmation. I think Blackburn is being contested.
Good to see Bolsover being contested. Got a good vote there from a newly fromed group.
A messgae to your yournextmep- Ennys Hughes aint the BNP candidate for Wrexham Melvin Roberts is.
I understand that there are about 278 candidates collated centrally as an approximation based on feed back from organisers but most of these haven't been officially declared and are being rolled out up to the election. It is possible that we may be looking at around 300 or possibly half the seats up for grabs would be nice if we could stretch the finaces. Whatever our roll call on the day, not a bad leap forward when you consider the amount contested at the last GE.
Andrew McBride will be standing for Tunbridge Wells http://bnp.org.uk/2010/03/bnp%E2%80%99s-south-east-regional-organiser-to-contest-the-tunbridge-wells-seat/
Former UKIP candidate Neil Jackson is to represent the British National Party as its prospective parliamentary candidate in the East Sussex constituency of Bexhill and Battle
It has been announced that Nick Prince is the British National Party’s prospective parliamentary candidate for the Sussex constituency of Hastings and Rye.
Leicestershire will be fielding a full slate of BNP candidates in the forthcoming General Election(10/10) with the latest announcement of:
Adrian Waudby for Leicester South. Colin Gilmore for Leicester East. ------------------------------------------------ Bios will follow.
Already announced are: Cllr. John Ryde for Bosworth. Cllr. Paul Preston for Leicestershire South. Gary Reynolds for Leicester West. Geoff Dickens for Harborough. Cllr. Ian Mellor for North West Leicestershire. Keith Addison for Rutland and Melton. Cathy Duffy for Charnwood. Kevan Stafford for Loughborough.
Ken Booth has announced that the North East will fight a full-slate. All 29 seats will be fought including staggeringly the 4 in Northumberland. I shouldn't think anyone imagined in their wildest dreams that we would raise the funds to stand in Berwick, Blyth Valley, Hexham and Wansbeck! What an achievement for that region and could hopefully spur neighbouring Yorkshire and the Humber region to go that extra mile and fight the remaining 7 seats to have a full slate there too?
Is anybody standing in either of the two Preston seats or Chorley? Central Lancashire has always been weak for BNP - but that needs to change this year.
There are 2 seats encompassing Preston so the group is probably struggling to raise the money to contest both Preston itself and the Wyre and Preston North seat.
People asking about Chorley; Faversham and Mid Kent; - same story - money probably not been raised to fight these two.
Likewise - I think Royston, Herts, is in the North East Hertfordshire parliamentary constituency - which again probably won't be fought due to lack of funds - Hertfordshire has 11 parliamentary constituencies to try and fund!
Somebody ask about Lewisham - it looks as if the Mayoral election will be fought but not the 3 seats covering Lewisham (this is Lewisham itself; Deptford & Lewisham East; Lewisham West and Penge) - again down to lack of funds.
I guess anyone interested in actually getting a candidate to stand in their specific area could still contact their local (or regional) group directly to find out how they could help raise the funds needed - but you need to do it pretty soon!
Yet another Channel 4 News report - this time visiting Hull - has again picked up support for the BNP.
"The BNP as a protest vote is seeping along beneath the surface. Immigration is the quickly latched onto in the blame game. Crime for many young people is a dependency, drugs too."
Re above: "also in attendance and speaking was Robin Evans PPC for Blackburn and Darwen"
The article is wrong, there is no constituency called Blackburn and Darwen. The local authority is called Blackburn WITH Darwen but it covers 2 Parliamentary Constituencies, the Blackburn seat as well as part of Rossendale and Darwen seat.
I think this is part of the confusion over where Robin Evans is standing. Doesn't help when a BNP blog gets it wrong too!
Portsmouth's 'leading' politicians have agreed to unite against BNP candidate Geoff Crompton who will stand in Portsmouth South at the general election. While Liberal Democrat MP for Portsmouth South, Mike Hancock, Labour MP for Portsmouth North, Sarah McCarthy-Fry, and Conservative prospective parliamentary candidate, Flick Drummond, may sit on opposing sides of the democratic divide, all have pledged to include anti-fascist messages on their election leaflets and communications.
The pact was made last night at a meeting with UAF national secretary Weyman Bennett. Caroline Lucas, leader of the Green Party, sent her apologies for not been able to be at the anti-fascist rally. Mr Hancock, said "We love our city - it's all about its diverse community."
Weyman and his MP pals will probably go ballistic if we stand in Portsmouth North too.
Labour MP for Portsmouth North, Sarah McCarthy-Fry, squandered more than £60,000 of taxpayers' cash to buy a flatscreen TV, a DVD player, bedding, an alarm clock, a sewing box and an electric fan. She has defended her claims saying everything was necessary in her role as an MP.
Robin Evans lives and works in Darwen, so I would have thought he will fight the "Darwen & Rossendale" seat. The next door seat "Blackburn" has Jack Straw as MP so I would have thought a more high profile BNP candidate will contest that one.
"Over £7,000 raised in Glasgow tonight. Now standing in all seats (7) in city. Great build up for Scottish parliamentary elections next year." - Nick Griffin 27th March 2010. See:
We really need a Blackburn candidate, there was a fundraising meeting here last night (28th) but not heard any reports about it yet (gutted I couldn't make it) Nancy.

Yes apparently Leeds BNP intend to fight all eight parliamentary seats and have candidates already in place.

ReplyDeleteWhat a shame the BNP vote (and organisation) in Oldham has been in marked retreat over several election cycles with news that the Tories have now selected Kashif Ali to fight the Oldham East and Saddleworth seat and Kamran Ghafoor the Oldham West and Royton one.

Of the 55 known BNP candidates declared here to date (incl Penrith & The Borders) 38 are in Parliamentary constituencies not fought in 2005 - only 17 seats declared had BNP candidates at the last General Election.
ReplyDeleteThis presumably leaves the 102 Parliamentary constituencies fought in 2005 and surely most likely again to have a BNP candidate still to select or publicly name the candidate.
East Midlands 13 seats declared
North West - 9 seats declared
London - 7 seats declared
Yorkshire 5 seats declared
North East - 4 seats declared
West Midlands - 4 seats declared
South East - 4 seats declared
Eastern - 3 seats declared
South West 3 seats declared
Wales - 2 seats declared
Scotland 1 seat declared
I see it is being reported that Shelley Rose is hoping to fight the South West Bedfordshire Parliamentary constituency which includes Dunstable.

"This presumably leaves the 102 Parliamentary constituencies fought in 2005 and surely most likely again to have a BNP candidate still to select"
ReplyDeleteI think a number of seats fought in 2005 will not be fought again- a number of Tory and Lib dem seats in particular where we tried out luck and the vote just wasn`t there
Agreed there are about 8/9 seats fought in 2005 (Cheadle, Basingstoke, Haltemprice & Howden, Harrogate & Knaresborough, Havant, Poole, Weston-super-Mare, Wokingham, Woodspring) which seem more unlikely to have BNP candidates standing again.
ReplyDelete"Agreed there are about 8/9 seats fought in 2005 (Cheadle, Basingstoke, Haltemprice & Howden, Harrogate & Knaresborough, Havant, Poole, Weston-super-Mare, Wokingham, Woodspring) which seem more unlikely to have BNP candidates standing again"
ReplyDeleteSome of these were fought as an attempt to "decapitate" certain tory MPs who it was felt useful to stand against - or where we polled well at the Euros accross a borough (Cheadle in Stockport for example) but not so good in this part of the Borough.
What about Doncaster Central and Don Valley ?
ReplyDeleteIn Doncaster the English Democrats have emerged, cannot an alliance with the BNP to share target seats not help further the common goals of both across the country, doubling up the total target seats? From the manifestos I think their are a lot of common ground but splitting votes in any consituency by too many candidate choices only lets back in the ones nobody wants. I think it is called tacktical voting to kick out the big load of shiits we have now as MPs.

ReplyDeleteEast sussex is a county not a parlimentary constituency. Also to the person enquiring about the 2 Doncaster constituency's this is a list of announced candidates standing for the named constituency.
ReplyDeleteThere are still 2 & 1/2 months left for deposit money to be raised before deposit's need to be paid to councils for parlimentary candidates.
General election deposits cost £500 a constituency and are returned if 5% or more of the vote is recieved.
Remember some places have council elections in May and may be able to Vote BNP in the local elections but not the general election.

ReplyDeleteI see BNP Scotland target 'to stand 23 candidates' in the general election has now been drastically reduced. So that's now barely a fifth of Scottish seats being fought as there are, in total, 59 parliamentary seats in Scotland.

News that the local branch have decided not to contest Walsall South as they think it pointless due to unfavourable demographics.
ReplyDeletehttp://bnp.org.uk/2010/02/bnp-candidate-announced-for-walsall-north-seat/

In response to the last comment.
ReplyDeleteI don't know where you get the thought that the BNP have said they won't be fighting Walsall South from that article, all it says is the announcement of the Walsall North candidate.
I personally think financial problems are the reason that Walsall BNP might not contest the
ReplyDeleteWalsall South seat.I think a person who lives in Walsall said the constituency aint worth contesting as the constituecny is possibly un-winnable.
Also remember that some areas have local elections in may so some places will find it hard financially to stand in every seat if they have more than more than 2 constituencies
that their group covers.
As for Northants west BNP i personally think they
should be able to contest 2/4 constituencies that there group covers. Personally if funds are
raised to contest one of the last 3 seats in Northamptonshire then i hope it's Daventry so the organisation in Daventry improves with more members, activists and candidates recruited.

Thanks for the post Andraste, I have simply included one of them at present because still to have tameside confirmed, David is the organiser but it doesnt say he will be the PPC, presume he will be though.
ReplyDeleteI have included Dennis, but not the link as it brought up a warning on my firefox.
If the BNP is attempting to win a million votes, so far - with 122 candidates - they would need to win an average of 8,197 votes per constituency. Half a million votes would require 4,098 votes per candidate as things stand.
ReplyDeleteMore than 122 constituencies are gonna be contested. I would estimate 220-400 seats will be contested. 330 would mean half the seats would be contested.
ReplyDeleteRemember there are local elections on Thursday may 6th in some areas.
On Wikipedia it says that Terrince Harold Jones is standing for Cardiff West.
ReplyDeleteYet another BNP PPC in the east midlands see http://eastmidsnat.blogspot.com/ whilst there click on an advert or two (all helps)
ReplyDeleteThis report really needs highlighting if we are to stand in the amount of seats we really should stand in. Just 2 people have enabled us to contest a seat we thought we would not be able to contest due to funds.
Paul stafford-Carlisle - http://cumbrianpatriotbnp.blogspot.com/2010/03/carlisle-selects-its-ppc.html

Eastmidlands Nationalist - I had a idea-All deposits that the party dont lose should be collected up and put away for the next general election then at the next general election more seats could be contested.
ReplyDeleteAnonys agree lets hope this idea is taken on and ready for the next election in those areas we manage to save our deposit but it will be tough to save them (In the east mids we have never saved a deposit at the General Election) we will this time though.
ReplyDeleteThe first full-slate declared then - unexpectedly in Shropshire. What an amazing achievement.
ReplyDeleteCan't believe Shropshire BNP have managed to do this whilst some other counties have yet to declare a single candidate (if indeed any will stand).
I hear Aberdeen are getting closer to fielding a full-slate there, with Aberdeen North about to be announced. Not sure but think that would only leave the West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine seat to go?
In other news - Neath will have a candidate
http://www.thegreenarrow.co.uk/index.php/extras/videos-4-u/1451-trinity-mirrior-helps-pay-for-bnp-campaign-in-neath
As will Newcastle under Lyme

Pedant alert!!
ReplyDeleteBridgwater and West Somerset.
Bridgwater seems to be routinely misspelt
Shame there's been no word of a candidate in the Batley and Spen seat. Surely in seats like this a campaign with the candidate in place should have already started?
ReplyDeleteThe report suggests Tories are finding when out canvassing "[...] the BNP voters are not just disaffected working-class Labour voters up here; they are also middle-class.
http://aggbot.com/docs/link.php?id=8816522&t=co
Let's hope someone in that region bothers to stand here!!! There seems to have been little news about anyone standing in much of West Yorkshire.
I can confirm that David Lomas is standing for Tameside constituency as I have contacted him personally about it.
ReplyDeleteRosalind Gauci is standing for Denton North East, see her blog: http://dentonnortheastmatters.blogspot.com/
Keep up the great work.
Re above: Tameside is not a Parliamentary Constituency. Tameside MBC covers 3 constituencies.
ReplyDeleteDenton North East is a local election ward, within Denton and Reddish.
ReplyDeleteAs for Tameside I thank everyone and anyone for the contributions but I will only post links which have links to an official website confirming what they say.
There is no immediate rush I would rather get it right first time. and yes i do make mistakes but hey who's perfect.
Kevin Scott is standing for Gateshead
ReplyDeleteIs Gateshead the only constituency that Gateshead BNP are contesting?
ReplyDeleteI would expect A full slate of candidates in Kirklees and the four constituencys to be contested(That includes the Batley and Spen constituency) seeing has Kirklees has 2 groups.
Yet another BNP PPC in the east midlands this time Wellingborough in Northants see http://eastmidsnat.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteBNPElectionResults - Fantastic blog - well done.
ReplyDeleteUpdate of the 128 known BNP candidates declared here, to date, according to region.
East Midlands - 23 candidates declared (13)
West Midlands - 18 candidates declared (4)
South West - 15 candidates declared (3)
London - 15 candidates declared (7)
North West - 13 candidates declared (9)
South East - 10 candidates declared (4)
North East - 9 candidates declared (4)
Eastern - 9 candidates declared (3)
Yorkshire - 7 candidates declared (5)
Wales - 5 candidates declared (2)
Scotland - 4 candidates declared (1)
'A large amount of Bedfordshire seats are being contested.'
ReplyDeleteThat's great news. There's, in all, 6 Parliamentary constituencies in Bedfordshire:
Bedford
Luton North
Luton South
Mid Bedfordshire
North East Bedfordshire
South West Bedfordshire
Don't worry about Yorkshire, we are still finalising things here, expect us to shoot up the candidate league table you have posted very soon, and we hope to top the list by the end.
ReplyDeleteBedford,Mid Bedfordshire,North East Bedfordshire
ReplyDelete& atleast 1 of the Luton seats are being contesed. Shelly Rose wants to contest South West Bedfordshire but it aint been confirmed.
Have just updated the list at http://www.yournextmp.com/parties/british_national/candidates/1 - please add more candidates here as you find them.
ReplyDeleteBolsover to fight seat with Martin radford Bolsover Group
ReplyDeleteAt the association of Leicester/shire combined branches and groups meeting last night, the association declared they are fighting 8 out of the 10 constituencies that comprise the shire. The only two not being fought is Leicester South - pity because we have polled well there in council by-elections - and Leicester East, the Rt Hon Keith Vaz's seat.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone can come up with the money it is understood that there are people in place ready to stand. Cap in hand folks! Oh and the collection raised just under £1,000 to be divided between the 2 branches and 2 groups.
I thought that Robin Evans was the Blackburn candidate?
ReplyDeleteBNP has Colin Poulter standing as its parliamentary candidate in Eastbourne -see the 5th paragragh of the article on the link below.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.londonpatriot.org/2010/03/13/bnp-barred-and-event-called-off-in-eastbourne/
Keep the candiates coming in people
I understand that there are about 278 candidates collated centrally as an approximation based on feed back from organisers but most of these haven't been officially declared and are being rolled out up to the election. It is possible that we may be looking at around 300 or possibly half the seats up for grabs would be nice if we could stretch the finaces. Whatever our roll call on the day, not a bad leap forward when you consider the amount contested at the last GE.
ReplyDeleteAndrew McBride will be standing for Tunbridge Wells
ReplyDeletehttp://bnp.org.uk/2010/03/bnp%E2%80%99s-south-east-regional-organiser-to-contest-the-tunbridge-wells-seat/

I thinking Robin Evans is standing in Rossendale and Darwen (as he lives in Darwen) - but if thats so, who will the Blackburn BNP candidate be?
ReplyDeleteMy post above should have confirmed that David Orr standing in Livingston
ReplyDeleteOldham West and Royton will be contested by Dave Joines.
ReplyDeleteAlwyn Stott will contest the Oldham East and Saddleworth seat.

BNP are standing 300+ candidates in the general election. 330 would mean half the seats would be
ReplyDeletecontested.
Best list I've seen in years, mist definately heart warming. Shame there's non for my city in Lancashire.
ReplyDeleteThe London BNP list has been updated-not all constituencies have a candidate named but 32 seats have been declared as having a candidate.

ReplyDeleteLeicestershire will be fielding a full slate of BNP candidates in the forthcoming General Election(10/10) with the latest announcement of:
Adrian Waudby for Leicester South.
Colin Gilmore for Leicester East.
------------------------------------------------
Bios will follow.
Already announced are:
Cllr. John Ryde for Bosworth.
Cllr. Paul Preston for Leicestershire South.

Geoff Dickens for Harborough.
Cllr. Ian Mellor for North West Leicestershire.
Keith Addison for Rutland and Melton.
Cathy Duffy for Charnwood.

I think this is a example of the BNP's A4 general election leaflet
Ken Booth has announced that the North East will fight a full-slate. All 29 seats will be fought including staggeringly the 4 in Northumberland. I shouldn't think anyone imagined in their wildest dreams that we would raise the funds to stand in Berwick, Blyth Valley, Hexham and Wansbeck! What an achievement for that region and could hopefully spur neighbouring Yorkshire and the Humber region to go that extra mile and fight the remaining 7 seats to have a full slate there too?
ReplyDeleteA Channel 4 News report has picked up support for the BNP in Luton - voters who are convinced the BNP is the only party fit to lead.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.channel4.com/news/articles/politics/domestic_politics/is+luton+emblematic+of+broken+britain/3587277
Am I right in thinking we are sadly only likely to be contesting one of the seats in Luton?
I think Both Luton seats are being contested.
ReplyDeleteAnother 2 seats.
In South West Herfordshire-Deirdre Dates
In Dr Andrew Emerson will contest Watford for the BNP.
http://www.thisislocallondon.co.uk/news/5077149.BNP_name_candidates_to_fight_Watford_and_SW_Herts_constituencies/
Im not sure if the Hemel Hampstead constituency is being contested.
Is anybody standing in either of the two Preston seats or Chorley? Central Lancashire has always been weak for BNP - but that needs to change this year.
ReplyDeleteA Preston BNP group was formed last year so i would expect the Preston constituency to be contested.
ReplyDeleteThere are 2 seats encompassing Preston so the group is probably struggling to raise the money to contest both Preston itself and the Wyre and Preston North seat.
ReplyDeletePeople asking about Chorley; Faversham and Mid Kent; - same story - money probably not been raised to fight these two.
See regional group contacts here:
http://bnp.org.uk/contacts/
Yet another Channel 4 News report - this time visiting Hull - has again picked up support for the BNP.
ReplyDelete"The BNP as a protest vote is seeping along beneath the surface. Immigration is the quickly latched onto in the blame game. Crime for many young people is a dependency, drugs too."

A Rousing Rochdale Meeting

also in attendance and speaking was
Robin Evans PPC for Blackburn and Darwen
http://www.rochdalebnp.co.uk/
Does anyone know if Clive Bennett will be standing for Swansea East?
ReplyDeleteRe above: "also in attendance and speaking was Robin Evans PPC for Blackburn and Darwen"
ReplyDeleteThe article is wrong, there is no constituency called Blackburn and Darwen.
Does anyone know if Clive Bennett will be standing for Swansea East?
ReplyDelete--------------------------------------------
Not sure but Swansea East is being contested.

ReplyDeleteThe pact was made last night at a meeting
with UAF national secretary Weyman Bennett. Caroline Lucas, leader of the Green Party, sent her apologies for not been able to be at the anti-fascist rally. Mr Hancock, said "We love our city - it's all about its diverse community."
http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/newshome/MPs-join-forces-in-bid.6183065.jp
Weyman and his MP pals will probably go ballistic if we stand in Portsmouth North too.
Labour MP for Portsmouth North, Sarah McCarthy-Fry, squandered more than £60,000 of taxpayers' cash to buy a flatscreen TV, a DVD player, bedding, an alarm clock, a sewing box and an electric fan. She has defended her claims saying everything was necessary in her role as an MP.
http://www.taxpayersalliance.com/media/2009/05/portsmouth-news-portsmouth-mp-reveals-all-about-her-expenses.html
Robin Evans lives and works in Darwen, so I would have thought he will fight the "Darwen & Rossendale" seat. The next door seat "Blackburn" has Jack Straw as MP so I would have thought a more high profile BNP candidate will contest that one.
